BUILDING CAPACITY IN NEONATAL HEALTHCARE

More than one million African newborns die in their first month of life with Ethiopia accounting for more than ten percent of these deaths. The majority of newborns in Ethiopia are born outside of healthcare facilities, with no skilled birth attendants present to help them take their critical first breath. Even in hospitals, there is a shortage of physicians and nurses skilled in caring for the sick newborn.

Wax & Gold is a nonprofit organization of healthcare professionals specializing in the care of the sick newborn committed to reducing infant mortality in this medically underserved and low resource region through capacity building and knowledge transfer.
